Gazprom sees prospects for demand for gas in Europe in 2021

MOSCOW, Feb 8 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom sees great future demand for its natural gas in Europe in 2021 given the current dynamics of takeoffs from the underground storages, the company said in a statement on Monday.

“In Europe, the gas reserves in underground gas storages continue shrinking rapidly because of the cold winter. Data of Gas Infrastructure Europe shows that 47 billion cubic meters of gas have been taken out of the European underground gas storages as of February 6,” the statement read.

“This is a 13% increase as compared with the amount pumped into the storages during preparations for the winter. And it exceeds the takeoff for the entire previous winter by 8%. This means for us that the prospects for demand for Gazprom’s gas in Europe are great this year.”
